Calluses

PEDICARE SOLVES

What is a callus and why does it form?

A callus (also known as a callosity) is an area of excessively hardened skin cells where the foot carries the most load. The skin there is usually yellowish and quite hard to the touch, and it can hurt under strong pressure.

The main cause is still unsuitable footwear, especially shoes that are too narrow or stiff, high heels and work shoes. Calluses can also form in people who choose their shoes carefully but whose feet are deformed for other reasons. People who are overweight and athletes are more at risk.
