Fungal nail infections are stubborn and hard to clear. That is why we keep a close eye on new methods at Pedicare. We are the first in Slovenia to use the RUCK ViroCap cold plasma system.<\/p>\n

What is cold plasma?<\/h2>\n

Cold plasma is created from the air at a temperature below 40 \u00b0C. This produces reactive oxygen and nitrogen species that penetrate the surface layers of the nail and reduce the number of fungi without damaging healthy cells. The treatment is painless and drug-free, and active treatment takes just 2 minutes per nail.<\/p>\n

What does the treatment involve?<\/h2>\n

We first clean and thin the infected nails. We then guide the plasma evenly over the nail surface through a single-use spacer. The programme consists of 6 treatments over 4 weeks: 2 a week in the first two weeks, then 1 a week in weeks three and four. The full programme costs \u20ac300\u2013500, depending on the number of infected nails.<\/p>\n

Cold plasma lets us treat several infected nails at once in a short time. For a single nail, we also continue to use PACT MED photodynamic therapy. Treatment is not possible if there is a wound in the nail area, and it is not suitable for children under 12.<\/p>\n

Why start in autumn?<\/h2>\n

A toenail grows only 1.5 to 1.8 mm a month. If you start treatment now, a large part of the new nail will have grown by summer.<\/p>\n
